Report from Bihar disaster area
Category: English
A report by a General Coordinator of HM in India of his visit to the disaster area in Bihar
Our way of working in disaster areas is based on organising local volunteers and making a full assessment of the situation before acting. We collect lists of people who are ready to contribute a set amount of money for the needs of the emergency aid. Then our delegates go to the area and research what is the real urgent need, and call those who are ready to contribute financially. With green light from financial contributers, our volunteers on site buy what is necessary and distribute it with care. Afterwards they collect the money from contributors. (If necessary, they ask the contributors to send the money to them while they are in the site.)
In case of Bihar we are well prepared as we have experienced local HM coordinators.
